You can use a short questionnaire of 10 or so questions to find out what people think about donation. When you are writing your questionnaire, think about what you are going to do with the results.
Yes/no/don’t know questions or answers which are given against a scale will give you answers that you can count and analyse. These are called ‘closed questions’. For example:
“Do you know anyone who is registered on the NHS Organ Donor Register?” (yes / no / don’t know)
“Do you think you would become a blood donor?” (Definitely / probably / maybe / probably not / definitely not)
‘Open questions’ ask people to give more detailed answers – not from a fixed list. Open questions are more difficult to analyse, but they give you more to think about and discuss. For example:
“What would encourage you to donate bone marrow?”
Sample questions can be found in this document. Download sample questions Word doc or sample questions PDF version.
